HAROSHI BATTLE OF THE BERRICS TROPHY

Share this post TFUPM Posted June 24, 2012 in ART, HAROSHI, JAPAN, SKATE

Haroshi being that he is a skater from early childhood, uses his materials for art purely through skateboards that have reached their breaking point. From working with nothing but decks, he has great knowledge of skate decks down to their manufacture, allowing him to fit and construct pieces that set his art apart, bringing art to skate in the most literal way possible. He's out of Tokyo Japan and interestingly stays some what true to the sculptures from his mother country, 90% of Buddhas there are made from wood sculptures. With his pieces he finds a piece of metal from an old deck and places it at the core of the sculpture, giving it "soul". Taking after "Unkei" a famous Japanese wood carver out of the 12th century who would place a crystal ball, the "heart", at the center of his Buddha carvings. His sick carvings and loyalty to skate have given him great success and an amazing legacy in both the skate and art world.
