Artist Patrick Martinez is showcasing some of his newest works this Saturday at the Known Gallery in Los Angeles. If Patrick Martinez's name doesn't ring a bell you have been missing out on some truly original artwork, his work through out the years has displayed Los Angeles culture in a different way then what a typical artist has been able to capture. In L.A its often seen the common way to capture the culture is through graffiti art, not knocking it but he has brought a pristine way of displaying the culture and psyche of an Angelenos everyday life. Hes been know at times to receive inspiration through Mexican market ads, store front neon signs, from the macho psyche of the common man trying to survive the norms of his ghetto, among many other things. He has been named one of the "Most Important Artists of 2011" by Complex Magazine among other credits. Lets not forget he has become an artist that is hard to categorize. With his neon sign works he has been able to display bold statements atop, with a complimenting canvas as the background, something never really seen in the art world. This has become somewhat of his signature even brands such as Nike have shamelessly ripped off his neon sign concepts. We look forward to this art show and catching up with Patrick, who has to be one of the most humble talents we've had the opportunity of hanging with. This upcoming showcase will stretch beyond the canvas with toys, stickers etc. so bring quarters because these will be available through purchase of vending machines. Hope to catch some Store13 faithfuls there for a peek into some truly amazing artwork.
